Heyy guys, just curious to know how many wheel options there were for the gen III SHO. I know there are at least two, the ones on my car as well as one other type which ive seen on pcross_53's newer SHO. are there others besides these two? I dont really like the rims on my car as they are, but I like my cars to look stock.

The Gen4 5 star's....
and then the other GenIII's (there are the chromies, the non-chromies, then the 99's, IIRC.)

Slicers and Gen 4 wheels are 6" wheels. Down from the 6.5" of the GEN 3 SHO.

AFAIK there are three versions of the GEN 3 SHO wheels.

Silver, Chromies, 99's

I love the 99's and I saw a Green 99 on ebay with them polished. I wish I would have saved a pic of that car because I loved with them. The 99's were also available on some SLO's in 99. All the other Taurus wheels are 6" IIRC.

And it's Paul, thanks.

sry Paul, I remembered your user name, but didnt see your actual name in your sig. as far as sticking to the stock gen III rims, I only have 3 choices then? the non-chrome, chrome, and 99's. I might start looking for a set of rims like Pauls then, I think they look nicer than mine and I like the lack of centercap.

A NOS one turns up from time to time on ebay. Always been meaning of picking up a couple extra wheels for those, oh sh*t moments and one gets thrashed.

... they do go for a pretty penny though. I'd say maybe try a junkyard as like I said, they can be found on some SLO's from 99.

Close up w/ 100% new brakes!

I'd like to do some powdercoated gunmetal on them tho

i really like the photoshopped wheels above me here, I think I would leave the outside face aluminum and powdercoat the inner areas like my Fiero has. its hard because I dont know whether that would look nice on my red taurus or not. Im gonna hafta do a bit of photoshopping myself.

when shopping for oem rims for my Fiero, I was really surprised at what people were asking and getting for them. I guess thats one reason so many people go aftermarket, you can get an ok set for a decent price. Ive yet to see a Gen III taurus with the newer 5-spoke rims from the most recent body style, but from the amount of ppl that talk highly of them I take it they look nice. I was surfing on ebay and I saw one of the 100year aniversary taurus' and the rims on that car looked really sharp. If i had a black SHO I would be looking for them. idk, Ive yet to show my car to a friend and have them say they liked the rims in the least, they all agree with me that Ford could have done something a bit more fantastical and less bland.

I would go with the painted, Im not one for flashy chrome and such. I dont like the flash which is one of the reasons i bought the SHO, I like the monochromatic scheme with matching body mouldings and everything.
