stock tranny and clutch strength

anyone know how much power the stock tranny/clutch can take, and where can i find a stronger tranny?

Well the tranny can take around 300 foot lbs before 3rd gear goes to shreds. www.shonutperformance.com sells aftermarket internals to fix that issue.

Unfortunately, there is no "stronger" 5 speed to replace the MTX4. If you install a Quaife SLD, you will be good to go. The tranny and clutch can take most bolt on mods without a problem. Your next weakest link is the stock pressure plate. During hard shifting/launches, the pressure plate straps can break, causing shifting problems and possible damage to the tranny housing itself. Been there, done that. I recomend the Clutch Masters Stage I clutch. It includes a stock friction disk, heavy duty pressure plate, TOB, and sleeve. Enjoy your SHO!

From what I understand they are discontinued. If you need some I would contact Bizzy. I have a couple very good condition used ones on a shelf, and possible even a new 3/4...can't remember.

You might still be able to buy the blocking rings....I can't remember
