Well Duh, I can search online till my fingertips bleed but i cant hear how any of them actually sound in a SHO. The same sub will sound different when put in a different car, and more so if your using the stock amp. I just wanted some info on what other ppl have, and how it sound in their car!

"Hi, I have a Porsche GT3 with NOS and running crazy boost, but I have these D-cells that I want to make a hybrid system out of. I think 6 of them should be ok for about 1-2 extra hp. Which brand D-cells do I use?"

Now im not 100% sure on this but i believe you get different hits and different pitches between 12's and 10's? So even though i have the 12's wont the 10 just help with the pitches that the 12's cant? I mean you go to car shows and you see cars w/ 8's, 10's, & 12's, or 15's all in one car, now thats on a competition level so even though you have the big powerful 12's, or 15's the lil 8's, & 10's have to be doing something helpful!!!

Are you going to enter it in competitions, or do you just want it extra loud? Why not ditch the stock, get another amp and good door speakers. Louder, better sound, and more sense.

No, 12's may be able to go slightly lower than a 10, but it will be well out of the audible range anyway, so you will never see (errr, hear...) a difference.

I mean you go to car shows and you see cars w/ 8's, 10's, & 12's, or 15's all in one car, now thats on a competition level so even though you have the big powerful 12's, or 15's the lil 8's, & 10's have to be doing something helpful!!!

Yes, they will do that. But, they also have taken a great amount of time and effort to research exact crossover points and frequency ranges that needs to be covered to make their systems accoustically 'correct' for the competion - not to make louder. i.e. through testing the system builder finds that their vehicle has a dead spot at X hz. They may add a particular size driver because it will be able to most efficiently provide 'fill' in the frequency range they need.

Often, in those cases in particular, 6 or 8 subs will not be as a sub per se, but a 'midbass' driver. Subs; for down low (80 Hz and lower), mid range and tweets (120 Hz and up), and then the mid bas to fill the range between the subs and the midrange.

If you are thinking about doing something like this, midbass drivers are typically not mounted in sub boxes, they are mounted as a normal midrange style. Also, you will need a good active crossover to ensure proper signal routing, I don't think the typical amp Xovers can be set fine enough for this kind of a set up.

Well then the consensuses is in! Its not worth the $100 to buy just the 10, w/o getting a new amp! So in this case is anyone looking to buy a stock amp for their car?

I personally just want good sound in the car, my sub sounds like it has been blown before I got the car. With any bass what so ever, it sounds distorted and really crappy. So if I wanted to stay stock for now and fix that sub, what would be a suitable replacement?????????

Its a 6inch opening right? And elemental designs 7kv2 would fit in it and sound pretty damn good im sure. But ive also seen as big as a 10inch sub in there.

you would need to find the right kind of 10" sub to match the space in the box. There is a thread on here where somebody hydrotested the volume of the box... i want to say it was like .47 cubic feet or something... hang on... ok, .43 cubic feet.

Sub box size revealed

It's easy to cut that thing out to fit an 8" sub... you just cut the top lip that sticks out the top off with a vertical cut, so that you cut the lip and an equal size ring of plastic that lays under the lip... if you know what I mean.
