i just got my first 93 mtx and the radio fuse was blown. I replaced it and now the radio turns on but no sound. Also i hear a whine that sounds like a supercharger which was not there before i replaced the fuse. Was wondering whether i need to replace the player?

radio issues
best option is to do a quick swap w/ another radio. my limited experience w/ the premium or JBL sound systems is that the wiring can sometimes fail or short out.
if no-go w/ replacement radio, try using non-premium radio to the black connector (located to left behind radio dash). This is a redundant wiring connector and is wired directly to the speakers. it will plug directly into the stock non-premium radios of this era (cassette only w/push on switch). if this works then problem is JBL system or amplifier.
