6 PSI (over 300 WHP, if done right) is somewhat safe with stock fuel delivery...but with the right fuel system and tune, the engine is fairly safe to run in the neighborhood of 12PSI or about 400HP or more...a stock driveline, however, starts complaining pretty quickly at those power levels. Here's how I think of it...

I'll know I'm there when I break 3rd Gear. Then it's time to get forged pistons.

Josh aka SHONut is running a completely stock junkyard bottom end, with over 450whp pretty reliably. It's all in the tune.

Out in front!
It's all in the tune 14-15 psi stock 3.2l bottom end and a good form of charge cooling. I got 18k miles out of one before stupidity got a hold of me and it broke a ring land.

My stock motor was at 9psi and made 340hp. On nitrous it made 395hp

Your right the stock fuel system could never support big power:munch:

im planning on seeing how much i can make with a stock bottom end. the key is timing and charge cooling. i plan to run a front mount intercooler and maybe some nitrous spraying the IC.

ford says the stock bottom end will survive 700hp+

somedudes car survived a few 17psi pulls on a pte 67 turbo before we backd it down to 12psi, and then finally blew many thousands of miles later, most likely because the maf was maxing and the tweecer never worked good enough to let us know that

The bottom end as saying in no forged pistons or using forged pistons? Well we know josh t has made over 500chp with stock motor. He also tracks it, so its not just cruising around.

I do not think anyone has found the limit of the motor with forged pistons. The motor usually runs out of fuel or the tranny fails

On a stock block, my 3L made 381 whp on a street tune and 91 octane at 9-10 PSI. Another member made 445 whp on a stock 3L with some extra octane, 15 PSI and full stock timing.

my old car (single turbo ATX) took 16 PSI with a single runner, tunnel ram intake, so that would be maybe 20PSI manifold pressure on a stock intake. blew the pistons after 5 or so runs at the 2007 convention drag event. so i took the piston into a engine guy at ford and he said it saw over 1500+PSI cylinder pressure to fail the way it did, sounded like that stock pistons can take ~1100 PSI.

a piston overpressure failure will make the car have lots of blow-by, if one has the breather feed back into the intake, one may never notice. also might get some odd noises from the broken off ring land pieces squeaking around in there at idle. car will make OK power with busted ringlands too.
