I heard some garage guru saying that the 1989 SHO came with Limited Slip Differentials. So, is this true? He wants me to buy his parts car bad, so he may be making this up.

Are any 1989 owners leaving dual strips of rubber down?

With a fresh suspension and proper alignment, every SHO can leave dual strips.

And no, no SHO came with a factory LSD. Ever.

wow that was quick. I figured, otherwise they'd be available online. This guy's just making his sale pitch. Thanks.

with a stock diff, sometimes you'll leave left side stripes, sometimes right side, sometimes both, and after too many of either, you'll leave a diff pin and trail of tranny fluid...like the surgeon general says, smoke em at your own risk.

So as long as I do not smoke em' I'll be fine? What if I go with Drag Radials next summer? If there's plenty of traction, then there's no smoke, and no blown diff?

The diff. is an inherently weak link in the MTX 5 trans, the only real solution is a quiffe or wave trac diff.also do a search in gen 1-2 perf in drives for a differential modification,If you are ******* the car even with stock motor, you will be leaving a snail trail wondeding where that ATF smell coming from and saying!!!!! WTF WAS THAT!!!!! when the car bangs so hard that it shakes the dirt outa your head liner(ask me how i know this LOL)

Well, I did just what you described over 10 years and 182K miles. pins finally went out for the next owner at 200K. They are pretty tough trannies.

He might be a garage guru", but where SHOs are concerned, he's clueless.

Probably also thinks it's supercharged!!

Yeah people around here at garages always trying to "tell me" about the cars... ie. "my buddy had a 3.8 SHO turbo." i had a 1989 rear wheel drive SHO w/ a 5.0." all idiots then they try and tell me i have a v-8 in my SHO... and my line how are you gonna tell me about my car....

If his parts car has an aftermarket Quaife installed, then it might be a good deal since they have a lietime warrantee. You would need proof of this though; like a reciept for $ 1, 395.00
