Hi all, new here. Just picked up a 93 ATX. Have fixed numerous little problems but am having trouble with the stereo. It is the JBL system with a single CD player under the cassette raidio--two amps in the back and the sub "box". It looks like the previous owner had tried to do something with the amps but I am not sure---there is one connector on the "silver amp" on the drivers side of the amp that has only two brown wires coming off of it that are twisted together. That soes not sound correct to me. Also, the cd player does not "power up" -- the radio comes on but the volume is very low--like it is passing through the amp without amplification. Is there a wiring diagram out there some where or can anyone offer any suggestions? All fuses that I can find are good (engine bay and drivers drop down fuse panel).

Thanks,
Dean Marcum

If your setup doesn't have the CD player, check to make sure there's a jumper on the 6-pin connector. If there isn't, sound won't go through it. Also, the two wires coming off the silver amp should go to the black amp that powers the subwoofer.

Sorry I don't have more time to help you, but I gotta run. When I come back, I'll give you a more complete description.

Thanks for the response--yes, the cd player is there but does not work--also, there is sound but just at a very low volume like the signal is being passed through from the HU to the speakers without being amplified. There is a black "JBL" amp on the right (passenger side) and then a silver amp (with no markings) on the left. There is also the black "keyless entry" box just to the left of the silver amp. I am thinking that the previous owner just umplugged a couple of things or killed something. Everything is "plugged in" as far as I can tell aside from the two brown wires on the left side of the silver amp (there are only these two brown wires on the connector).

Thanks for the feedback so far though!
