I am working on the same thing. I am going tonight to look at relacement subs. I will let you know what I find. In the mean time get busy removing the sub box in the trunk. It has four nuts holding the large black box to the rear deck inside the trunk. You will need a ratchet and a socket extention at least 10" long. Not sure of the socket size, but I can check tonight. I had to cut the wire going into the sub as there was no connector, but yours may be diffrent. Remove the WHOLE BOX and the sub is removed from the top, not the inside. Avoid the junk yard on this one! I will have the sub specs tonight and let you know what I find.

The stock AMP cannot push very much. I found a jensen 8" sub that is now installed and it sounds pretty good. I cut the factory box opening around the inside of the lip and screwed the new sub right in. hooked it up to the factory wiring and it seems to work just as good as the original if not a little better. The sub is rated at 100 watts RMS and 250 watts peak @ 4 ohms. Only ran about $30 for the sub. Will work for now.

$30 that's it? WOW

Damn, ok... i heard that all aftermarket subs are different to install than regular stock subs, so if i buy an aftermarket sub like an 8 inch like u did and find a way to jam it in the stock box, will i ned to buy any other adapters to hook it up to the stuck amp?
another question, is the amp that u have it hooked up to a stock amp? because i dunno if it will atually produce like100 watts because it seems like it is hella small!

All I did was put some new terminal ends (radio shack .99) on the factory wires and connect them to the sub. That was it.
