I don't know guys. I've tried everything everybody has suggested ,but still nothing. It cranks fine, tries to start hits and sputters and dies. Tachs moving, ground strap and crossover bolts are tight. Sometimes it backfires through the breather. I don't know. Any suggestions? Please don't give up on me because I'm not. Help!!!

The backfire says the spark is not timed correctly. If the cylinder identification sensor (camshaft sensor) had failed. It would resist starting until it got the cylinder sequence right then start and run like normal. Are the spark plug wires on the coil pack correctly? Should be:

3 things needed:

Spark, Fuel (correct pressure too), and air (in and out of the engine). Then it's timing. Verify the 1st 3, then move off to timing issues. Like Scott mentioned, check the coil pack - I've seen them run (badly) with the coil wires swapped. My 91 had a plugged Y-Pipe, and would sputter, sometimes want to start /idle, but mostly just not run. Good luck.

I've tripple checked everything that I've had loose. Wires are correct in relation to the coil pack. Fuel pressure is at 32 lbs. and changed the fuel filter.
