Damn it.

So my 93mtx is still chugging under acceleration. It's the third time. The dealer first dig plug wires, then plugs, then o rings because of oil in the plug wells, then new plugs. The problem came back. So i just got the car back again and they put new plugs in.

The car drives great right now, but I know the chugging and missing out will come back. Can anyone explain why the new plugs would work, then deteriorate so quickly?? I am adding a good 4-6 quarts of oil between scheduled oil changes. The dealer says they cannot find a leak (says the leake before was the o rings, leaking into the plug wells) but I am losing the same amount of oil after that procedure.

Any thoughts would be helpful.

thanks

Look under the car. Have you ever found any oil under the car either on the ground or on the under carriage. When you drive does your car look like a coal burning freight train. Your putting a lot of oil in your car every 3K for it not to be obvious as to were it is going.

4-6 quarts!? Dude... any oil smells? It could be burning on the Cats. The most common place for it to leak and not be found would be the front main seal.

The six plug wells can only hold about a half quart between them. Were they overflowing? I don't thing the plug well seals can pass that much oil. They just see splashes of oil, not oil under pressure. If you are going through that much oil, there should be a good trail.

Christ with that much oil who needs an oil change, just change the filter. hehe
Sorry, I had too, anyways the underneath of your car must be coated with oil, I can't believe nobody can find the source.

I had that problem but not 4 qts. I used some Blaster Fuel injector cleaner and lubrication. I was using a lot of oil b/c of blow by from sticky valve rings. With the cleaner and lubrication from the additive for my fuel my consumption went way down. So things have been better since.

bigshoein, my 95 MTX is doing the exact thing, except I use no oil at all. But the miss/chugging as I call it, under extreme load, is the same... I have not yet replaced the plugs, but hope I do not end up having to do them all the time.... Let me know if you are able to solve the skip/oil consumption problem....GOOD LUCK!

The car is back - and it's not misfiring, but I know it will in time. The plugs have helped everytime, but it just seems to deteriorate after a month or so.

I asked them about the front main seal - but they haven't said anything. When the dealer did the CPS and timing belt, I told them to look into it -but I think they didn't.

I am lost. They want to do an oil loss test, where I bring the car back in 250 miles to check it..we'll see what happens.

If there are any more thoughts, let me know - thanks for all your ideas.

Should have had them change the $4.00 (10.00 at ford probably) while they were right there. Always change the cheap stuff while you have the oportunity when doing maintenance that deep into motor.

I asked them to look at it and change it - but he never confirmed that conversation. I am very annoyed at that, since they were down around that area to fix that cheap ass part..

this dealer has been unbelievably terrible at messing my car up. They have had her for pretty much 11 of the last 13 months, diagnosing (or misdiagnosing) 2 problems that have led to tons of work and money.

I am livid
