On my new 92 the temp. guage will occasionally go to about the O range of Normal, still well below red but hotter than I think it should run. Yet, sometimes it will run extremly cool, barely in the normal range. Well today, it was below the normal range in about 16 miles of driving. I do get heat though. I'm thinking stuck thermostat. How hard is it to change the thermostat? I've been reading on SHOtimes, but I would still like to hear from anyone that's done it. I was reading about Catalatic Converter problems relating to stuck thermostat resulting in blown engines. How serious is this? Can I wait till I get a 60k this summer?

the thermostat removal is two nuts and one screw. loosen the clamp from the tb to the intake hose. take out the hose, maf and air box cover, it comes right off. then locate where the bigger rad. hose that connects to the engine.(pics in shotimes-very helpful.) there are two nuts there, one on top one on bottom of the blue pipe that connects the rad. hose to the engine. pull back that blue connector and there the thermostat is. If you have any mechanic skills it should be easy.

Like shorook said, it's simple. You can do it. Just keep telling yourself that thumb

Make sure you get a good replacement t-stat. It needs to have a jiggle valve. When you install it, make sure the jiggle valve is on top.

Good luck!
