so my sub and passenger rear speaker do not work (the rear speaker i'm not worried too much.)
however, I was wondering how the JBL systems (1992) amps are wired into the car.
I put an aftermarket head unit in and the sub made a noise like it was on (a popish noise if you know what I mean like when you change a headphone jack in a stereo....)
I found a wiring diagram for the car's stereo and its just like any other car i've ever worked on without amps.
so long story short does anyone have a wiring diagram or something to show me what is what on the amps?
from there I can check the wiring to make sure it is all connected.

thanks

Hope this helps. This is a diagram for a 93.

Your problem sounds to me like you're trying to use the aftermarket head unit with the factory amplifiers.

of all the different things that i have heard is that todays technology in aftermarket hu, they have a lot more power than the jbl amps do. Therefore plugging up your HU is going to overpower the weaker in this case the jbl amps. I am planning to install a new system in my car but will be bypassing the stock amps. I have already installed an mtx 8'' in the factory box and will get a small amp bridged to push the sub. I then plan on starting off with the aftermarket HU pushing aftermarket speakers. Depending on how i like it i may or may not push these speakers with a seperate amp. So all in all you are much better off not using anything left over from the jbl system. During all this blah blah blah, I hope that maybe I helped you out. My stock sub was beyond done so im not sure of how yours looks but you are most definitely going to get better sound and durability by replacing the components that are 15, 16 years old with new technology. Good luck.
