I made the U-tools out of coat hangers and I did manage to get 1 side of the radio out but accidentally popped it back in. Now neither side will budge. The side that did come out came out by me pulling on the hangar because the hangar was stuck in there. Any tips, I swore there was a "How Do I" thread, but I cant find it now.

Yeah....stick the removal tool into the holes angled away from the deck (as if you were trying to jab a couple of holes in the side of the console there), and when the tool won't go in any further, reverse the angle. It should pop right out.

you may have to wiggle it around a little bit. All you got back there is a pair of spring clips that have to squeeze towards the head unit. Keep trying and don't give up. you ain't gotta go in that far.

FWIW. My homemade removal "tools" never worked quite as well as the 4 dollar ones you could get at the auto parts store. I've used them plenty of times, so I'd like to think I got my moneys worth.

I've always used them precision screwdrivers, myself...I guess I should've mentioned that before. From my experience, the coat hanger's just a hair too big to work really effectively.

i am pretty sure just pushing the u tool in is not enough. you have to push outward or inward on the u tools while inserted in the radio. I think it might be inward but im not sure.
