Everytime I turn my car on, my cd player doesnt automatically turn on. I have to push the button for it to turn on. When the car is turned off the cd player loses all its settings, and the clock resets. I thought it just wasnt hooked up to the accessory wire but it is. I've tried them all. Anyone any clue?

Is it an aftermarket system? If so, it sounds like you hooked up the Acc/power and Batt/memory wires backwards. You said you checked all the wires so I'm stumped I guess. Maybe a blown fuse?

you have the incorrect wire for constant power
I used to install car stereos ..
with a test light and teh car off there should be one wire from fuse box that is constant power and that wire usually goes to the yellow wire on deck depending on deck brand name...
test for the wire and you should have no probs

Yup...you got your battery and acc wire switched.

When the radio is shut off...it relies on the batt wire to remember everything...but you have the acc hooked up to it...and its got no powa with the ignition off.

If you have an old Pioneer deck, the wire for illumination is the yellow wire, and the wire for constant power is actually the orange one. I had this problem with my old ******.

I had an older Pioneer deck in my SHO when I got it, speaker wires are all wacky colors, not the typical white, grey, violet, green. Just a few weeks ago put a JVC deck in it. Fold down face w/ a remote, sweet:thumb:

I have a constant hooked up. But the accessorry wire is weird, it can hook up to ANY wire and as long as it is, it the unit will turn on. It wont turn on automatically (the main problem im having) but it does do that. Here's another weird thing... when i switch off my head lights the unit turns off but than turns back on right away. I am so lost. You'd think it'd be so easy.

That isnt crazy...there is a wire that supplies power to dim the lights on the factory radio. You might be using the dimmer wire instead of the ACC wire/battery wire.

Did you get a wiring harness or did you splice it in?

Yeah, somehow I figured it out. I could of swore I tried the green/yellow but who cares...it works! Well, yeah kinda. Except now that I did that, the clock pod is really dim. You can hardly see it. I have no idea why this is doing this. The clock doesn't reset though so it's getting constant power. Anyone have any clue?

Maybe it burned out, if that's the case the only place you'll find the bulb is Ford and they charge $6 for it. The seprate clock is nice because of the calendar and elapsed timer.

No its not, because it's burnt out before and I've messed with the wires to try to get my stereo headunit keep it from reseting. I had a feeling this would happen when I messed with the wires, but I just cant figure it out what it could possibly be?
