I was wondering, since the cheap-o GM STB works on our cars, would the nicer aftermarket STB's for the same GM cars work? I've checked around and they have some nice affordable ones out there. Just thought there might be some more options for us.

No,they are not an exact fit,and the bolt pattern is different. The GM bars require to either drill a new hole, oblong the existing hole(only one is in the right spot),or jam the **** out of the bar to get it on the studs.

Honestly man, I don't even think they're worth it. Do you have anything else done to your suspension? They do look nice, but you'd be so much better off getting some SFCs if you want a cheap way to improve your handling without messing with too much. They really make a difference.

Theoretically I wouldn't see why they wouldn't work, but I don't know firsthand. Funny no one seems to have thought of this before. Good idea.

edit: haha...scratch that...

Maybe so. I saw some nice looking ones on the BMR website. I noticed however, that they were as much or more than the custom ones made by Jeremy and co. here, and the ones Tim Dahm makes and sells directly or on ebay.

IIRC the GM bars don't mate up to all the holes on the strut tower exactly. If so, the brackets would need to be a little different to get all the benefits of using all available mounting points.

Man you guys are quick. I thought I was the only one in this section. :p

I plan on making some SFC's, and if the holes on the STB brackets do not line up, I can just redrill them. I work in a mahine shop, so that kind of stuff will be real easy. I just wasn't sure if they would be a direct fit is all.

BTW, I also have some 24/26 sway bars lined up....who says I'm all about looks. :p thumbs_u

The problem is that the GM bars only cover 2 holes, right next to each other,it doesn`t pick up enough of the studs. For example, the SHO studs are in a triangle pattern, the GM bars have two oblonged holes, one on top of another.Basically, the long holes look like this "=".You either drill one single hole in the middle,or extend one existing hole, and bolt it on offsetting it.To acually use a decent bar made for the GM pattern, all 3 holes will not be able to bolt to the studs, only one(possibly none depending on the mounting procedure).Working in a machine shop, you could possibly use just the bar itself and CNC a new set of plates, but at that point,it`s more cost effective to just get an SHO correct brace.Basically, the GM brace is a band aid even on a GM,to use the better bar for our cars,it won`t even fit if you did redrill the holes.
