I have a 92 sho MTX, and i started to take it apart a few weeks ago. when i got the car it ran like crap, and my brother being a ford mechanic told me it was the knock sensor. i took off the intake mani and the fuel rail to get to the sensor and i replaced it. from there i have had nothing but problems trying to get it started. At first i put it back together and it was leaking fuel from the fuel rail. I got a new fuel rail and injectors then tried putting it back together. it still leaked fuel and i found out i forgot a seal on one of the injectors. i changed that and now i go to start it and no fuel leaks and the fuel pump turns on and there is pressure in the rail. but it still will not start. at WOT it stuggles and really wants to start. there is also back firing when it is about to start. There is a connector near the intake that there is no place for if someone knows where it goes it would be a big help. i also tried to clean out the intake and and i forgot about one of the sensors in the intake. I was woundering if that could stop it from starting. Thanks

That connector may be to the camshaft sensor. The sensor is located on the passenger side of the rear head, beside the timing belt cover and right above the power steering pulley. It is possible that you removed this connector when working with the fuel rails and lines going back toward the sensor. Also check that both connectors on the DIS module, located on the cross over intake tube, are connected. However, the DIS being disconnected shouldn't cause a backfire, but who knows in your case. This seems to be more related to timing.

Edit: You noticed that you left a sensor disconnected "in" the intake? Do you mean on the intake? There's a connector for the IAB/IAC valve located behind the throttle body, where the intake splits off, and if it's disconnected it'll be a pain to start, much less keep running, but it will start. Being your SHO ran like crap, it can make the problem worse, meaning it will not start. There's also another connector for the crankshaft sensor, very close to the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail, which consists of two connectors. So whatever sensor you left unplugged, or forgot to connect, plug it up! Also, double check everything and make sure that all connectors, bolts, nuts, and vacumm lines are properly put back together.

i just checked under the throttle body and i think the IAB is pluged in because im not sure what it looks like but there is no missing connections under the throttle body. the missing connector is part of the two connectors that go onto the intake. this wire that i don't know where it goes splices out of where the two ones from the intake meet. i also checked by the fuel rail and pessure regulators and all the connections are made. i think i might have the spark plug wire messed up so i wanted to no what the firing order was. this may be the cause of the back firing. o ya one last thing. there is one big silver connector by the driver side rear head and it is part of a big harness i think it is just a donignositic plug in, just wanted to make sure

Do you have a way of posting up some pictures? The only thing that I'm coming up with that runs to the intake are the secondary vacumm lines, they run into a "Y" or "T" fitting, then that one line runs behind the "FORD" logo on the back of the intake. There's a little stem, don't know the proper name at the time, that the line slides over to recieve vacumm and keep the secondaries closed below 4k rpm.

The EEC test connector is on the firewall, in front of the passenger seat, along with the ABS test connector, if it applies to your SHO. I don't know what connector you're looking at, off the top of my head.

The firing order on the coil pack is like this:

Firewall

4 l 3
6 l 2
5 l 1

Front bumper

Block cylinders are like this:

Firewall

1 2 3
-------
4 5 6

Front bumper

WTF im getting really ****** at my car now. i no it is something stupid i just wish i knew what it was. i chaged around all of the spark plug wires so they were right, put it all back together and tryed to start it. well it didn't start then i found out i forgot to hook up the ground on the passager side of the intake mani. so i did that and it almost started I mean it really really wanted to. it was damn close. i can not figure it out the only thing i can think of is it is flooded or the plugs are failing so i might just run out to the local pep boys and get a new set of plugs jsut to make sure. i really wish there was someone in my area that i knew could work on my car and figure out the problem with it cuz im about to give up if the spark plugs do not do it. :bonk:
