I'm off the the junk yard to get the required parts. I have a '92, so from what I understand, I will need the steering knuckles with the hubs and back/splash plate from a 94-95 Taurus (a SLO would work too right?) along with the caliper brackets from a 95 Continental or 96+ SHO. Is all of this correct?

I will be getting the rotors and calipers and all from work so that won't be a problem.

Thanks

Those knuckles will not work. There is also a certain Lincoln that you can use the knuckles from, I'm not sure which one though. Do a search, this issue has had lists of the exact parts you need to do the whole entire swap.

Huh? The knuckles/hubs from ANY '94-'95 Taurus/Sable with ABS will work (BTW, most junkyards are going to intially refer to them as spindles in Hollanders).

You probably won't be able to find just the caliper brackets at a junkyard. Instead, ask for the calipers from a '95+ Conti or a '96+ SHO. 99% of the jy's I've been to treat the calipers and brackets as a single unit. If you don't have to provide cores to get the calipers from where you work, you could always sell the jy calipers on eBay after you take the brackets off.

FWIW, I recommend getting new hub nuts, strut & control arm pinch bolts, and tie rod castle nuts for when you do this upgrade. It adds about $20-$25 and is $$$ well spent.

'94 Sable spindle w/ABS, use the old '94 Sable calipers for core to get the new '95 Calipers, '95 Continetal caliper brackets, new '94 sable bearings, '95 Continental rotors and pads...

Cool, thanks guys. Since I'm in there I'll replace all those things you listed SHOooo, I can get them all from work pretty cheap. I'll also look for the calipers in the junkyard so I can use the brackets, and if I can't find any I got a buddy @ Ford who can order them for me. Then I can get the calipers @ work with no core :)

Anything else I should know? I've been researching it for a lil while now..

Thanks guys!

Yeah, buy at least one can of PB Blaster to help break some of the old nuts & bolts free! :D

If you've got the extra $$$ it might be a good time to do the outer tie rod ends since they're short $$$, and usually include new castle nuts & cotter pins. (Although you'd likely need an alignment afterwards)

while you're down there, now's the time to replace the ball joints, struts, springs, endlink, sway bar and maybe the sub frame bushings...

I'm going to do the tie rod ends, but no money for everything else yet. The next project will be KYB struts and Eibachs, along with a complete suspension bushing overhaul... but that's a few months and hundred dollars away...
