so my 95 has been taking forever to start. it cranks and cranks then after a min it will finally turn over. i thought it might be the fuel injectors , so have ran about 2 bottles of cleaner through the car with no luck. it will do this all through the day - even after a drive and a short 5 min rest it still takes awhile for it to turn over , it will just crank and almost **** my batt. any ideas out there?

long start

had a similar problem with the 95 ATX. Doug Lewis (Atlanta, GA) had the car for a while, and theorized that the fuel pump was going bad. Ended up replacing the stock pump, no more problems after that.

Of course had also replaced the fuel filter by then.

Have you check the fuel pressure on the intake? Change your fuel filter, check your pressure and if it is low then it is more than likley your fuel pump. If it is fine, then there is a problem some where else.

my fuel filter was changed about a month ago. i will check fuel psi very soon.

and Lightning i had a cobra awhile back and was forced to drop the tank and replace the pump , what a joke. i figured i would just pay and avoid any headaches. however if its a simple job i may look into it. thanks guys

fuel pump issues

If you go with replacing the fuel pump, I would let someone else do it. New 105L/hr pump cost me about $ 120? and a few hundred for labor to install it. This seemed to me to be a big job for a weekend mechanic, but it can by done by the DIY'er.

There was another recent post on the forum about "no-start issues" that dealt with measuring the fuel pressure at the rails. I would also check the pressure there before I started throwing $$ at the problem.

best of luck
JD
