Ok I have been having a problem starting my car lately. It only happens a couple times a week. Sometimes I go to start my car and the starter cranks. Then it stops for a couple seconds, then the engine fires right up and runs normally? Just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem occur with them? The starter was replaced last fall and the battery in the winter of 2000. Although I have run the battery completely dead maybe twice in the past by accident, I am not sure if maybe the battery is dying?

Draining a lead-acid battery till it's dead, even once, will definitely reduce it's capacity and cranking power. Most places will load test the battery for free so have it checked out. Also remove your battery terminals and clean them and the battery posts.

My 95 had developed a problem where it would turn over once, struggle VERY ******* the second rev, then continue to turn over normally until it would start. After cashing in the last of my warranty, it was determined to be a very slowly leaking head gasket which was replaced for about $900 in parts/labor.

Yes the starter completely stops. Then it fires right up. I have noticed that it has only occured after like 2 months ago when i left the dome lights on for about 12 hrs. The battery was COMPLETELY dead. Well the diehard silver is still under warranty ill pick one up today.

Was that a problem all the time? Mine doesnt seem to be as serious as yours, cause it will crank a couple times, completely stop, them mysteriously fire up. Also since i ran my car dead, If i vacuum out my car with the doors open. Most likely i'll need a jump to get it started so i think i will exchange the battery today...

Food for thought :D .......if it's not the battery,,,,then it sounds like you are not totally grounded somewhere, starter, solenoid, somewhere?? How about that little copper tab near the firewall on the passenger side?? is it well "up" above the firewall or did you accidentally bend it over and there is something shorting?? also, fuses may be failing?
Hope it is the battery!! eek! eek!
