Ok,
Well my Sho broke down last night. I have a 95 MTX. I stopped to get gas, and when I tried to start it I turn the key to the start position, hear a click and then nothing. I can hear the fuel pump priming. But nothing.
I tried several times.
At one point, I turned the keys and the power door locks cycled????
It only did it once, then when I turned the key off and then back on to the start position all I got was a click sound and then nothing?
I'm thinking the starter died?? Any ideas?
Any sites to get a starter inexpensively??

Thanks,
Doug

hey i just had a similar problem with my 95' MTX....this is my first post....what happened to me was i had just got the clutch replaced ($924) and i seriously drove it 5 miles down the road with no problems, shifted great and everything....i went to turn around, shifted into reverse and all of a sudden the power just went out, not a flicker or anything, the engine shut right off and no power at all, no dome lights, nothing.....so im like what the heck and get out look everything over, engines got oil and nothings hot or smoking.....so i left it there for the night and went back the next day and pushed it to my buddys house....when i opened the door again the dome lights came on and i got in and turned the key to auxillary mode and radio came on, seemed like a good battery, but as soon as i go to start it dies again....so i've got no clue what it is, the shop that did the work is towing it for free and doing the work to fix it for free....im guessing either a short in the transmission or somewhere in the wiring they messed it up, or either the alternator or battery is toast...any ideas folks?......has this happened to anyone else? well thanks for any replies guys, just joined the forum, and i love it so far. :thumb: ..later- Fat rob

That stinks!! Well at least they are going to take responsibility for it.
I got mine back, only charged me $134 to replace the starter!!
I was driving my dads s-10 pickup......boy is there a big difference.

Don't forget the hammer test when a starter acts up. That will often get you home or (gasp) to a garage without having to pay for a tow.

eksphatrob, your problem is probably something simple like they left one of the battery cables going to the starter or the block a little loose.

Because of the their weight, any price break with probably be eaten up by shipping. Try AZ or your fav parts place.

Replacing a starter is very easy on a SHO, it is on the front of the engine below the oil filter.

AZ is pretty decent for prices. If you can get someone to push you, you can always pop-start the car and not have to pay for the tow.
