Not the key cylinder, the actual switch on the left side near the bottom of the column.

My 93 will sometimes go to the start position, but there will be no lights on the dash and it will make no attempt to start.

Got a replacement switch (F4DC-11572-AA) from RockAuto which covers all SHOs (and Taurus) from 90 to 95.
The existing switch in the car (F2DC-11572-AA) is different in the center post (boss) connection area.

The existing switch has a very small center connector boss. The new RockAuto switch has a large center connector boss, and the harness will not mate to it. Everything else is identical on the two switches.

Anyone seen this before?

Contacted Ford and the F4DC switch is the only one available from them as well.

I am going out on a limb, but as far as I can tell, vehicles built after 5 20 94 have this ignition switch. When you open the box the switch arrives in, there is a spacer in a plastic bag (F4TB-14A468-CA) that you have to install in the switch. Why they are not packaged together as a unit, I don't know.

For earlier vehicles, service bulletin 19-7 Sept 21 1994, describes altering the 14401 Harness Assembly (main harness) and the best I can imagine is you chop off the current connector and wire in Connector Assembly F4TB-14A464-AYA to match this F4DC switch. Problem is.... you cannot buy that Connector Assembly anymore from Ford.

The best I can figure is Ford is stocking the latest version of their ignition switch, which, instead of serving from 90 to 95, actually serves May 20 94 to 95.

I am going to read the information over again (about 20 more times) as this does not sound right.
