I drove my 92 down to vote and it worked perfect ,after a couple of hours it would not start . here is what I have done
new battery
checked switch on clutch by bypassing it .
there is no click coming from the starter and it has not acted up at all .I just do not want to remove the starter unless I have tried everything else .

The starter is fairly easy to remove in my opinion...and advance will check it for free.

Another idea would be to check the remote wire going to the starter...IIRC, its just a clip that attaches to the starter...maybe it fell off/came loose.

Also, is your alternator charging like it supposed to? Are your battery terminals tight and non-corroded?

the wires are tight and clean going to the battery ,plus the battery is less than a week old with 900 cranking amps .the starter is covered with oil and tar from the road so I will clean that .if I can not find an easy way to fix it tomorrow I will buy ramps and just take my time I have changed over 60 starters in my life on alot of different cars but now I am disabled so it takes me alot longer to do anything . I could not beleive the cheapest rebuilt here is $135 , so I will take it out and bring it to a rebuild shop they have locally or try to open it up myself . thanks by the way for the help :)

Good luck with the repair....I would be checking the starter with the things you have listed. Either that or you can someon push it and pop the clutch. :D Another nice thing with having a stick shift. :****:

You can get a starter from advanceautoparts for $105....with a lifetime warranty. I have used the lifetime warranty on mine, and they take care of it. They will have you a new starter within 24 hours around here... :ruhroh:
