Nebraska i just checked mine for you.
THe top wire is the ground, this should only show 0.02 or 0.03 volts KOEO
Middle wire is the TPS signal to the PCM should be roughly 0.98
Bottom wire is the 5 volt ref. Should show 4.98-5.02 or so.

You can use a paper clip to get into the harness. if your dmm leads are sharp enough you can just poke the wire.

When you are checking the middle wire with just the key in on it should be around 0.98v or so. no higher than 1 volt. With the car running at idle it should be the same. What i do is with the key on check it at idle. then slowly move the throttle with your hand and make sure the voltage increases with the throttle being opened and make sure there is no dead spot within the range of the throttle(dmm will drop to 0 if there is a bad spot. at WOT should be close to 5v

o also make sure your DMM is set to DC voltage. This is noted by the V with the solid line over it. AC voltage is the one with the squiggly line over the V

I just changed my TPS in my car yesterday and it worked perfectly. No more drop. Car seems to run a tad smoother as well.
