I have a 91 plus and am having a stalling problem. It has stalled three times in the pass three days. Once when i was driving, ( down shifting to stop at a redlight and it stalled in rush hour traffic) but it started back it after it sat for about 5 mins. The second time it stalled it was just sitting and running( after about 20 of the car running at idle the car stalled but started right back up) the third time was tonight i was on the bridge come from philly to jersey and the car stalled on the on-ramp.but started right back up.
I thought it might be something loose but i hit some big bumps and the car didn't shut off. I do have an amp in the trunk with a box that has 2 10's in it i dont know if it is taking power away from the battery and it's shutting off or it is something else. Can anyone help.
thanks,
David

Ran eec test and came back with bad o2 sensor i replaced that and now it says code 81 i don't know what that mean because i found 4 different meanings??
My tach is still either not working or jumping.

Sounds like crank sensor to me also. Also check water pump for leak out the bottom weep hole. A search may help you out some too.

Agreed:thumb: you might want to do the timing belt right away as long as you are doing the CPS :salute:

I have replaced the water pump about 3 months ago because it was leaking. Is the CPS located under the water pump?? Now that i have everything back on do i have to take everything off to get to the CPS? Can i go from under the car?

Yes, the CPS is located behind the water pump. If you can do it from under the car, kudos to you. I doubt it can be done, because of the lack of room, and you will need to feed the CPS wire under the manifold

Its actually behind the timing belt pulley. which is behind the crank pully. youll have to take the wires out of the plastic clip "the plug end" and feed them between the timing cover and the intake manifold.

What is the best way to take off the crank (pully wheel)? It's pressed in right? I can't fit anything in the engine bay it's to small. I got the ratch on the wheel and am going to take the nut off but there is not room to get a pully in

Are the threads on the crank pully reversed? I snapped a socket trying to break it loose. Does the pully wheel come right off after you get the bolt out or do i have to use a pully wheel to get it out?
thanks

Its cool man...

I get frustrated really quick...

The link i provided has a procedure (starter bump) that can take the bolt off... just make sure you have a 1/2'' drive as a 3/8'' may break. OR a breaker bar would work.

No, there is no way to get the CPS off without removing the torsinal dampner.
Its hard enough to get those screws off(the one that hold the sensor in) even with the dampner off.... :nut:
