What do you mean when you said, "[sic] i put her in reverse as it ground, like usual it stalled?" You mean you grind it into reverse rather than stop the spinning gears by shifting into fourth (or any other gear) and then reverse? It is not usual to stall at any time. Please explain. If you stalled the engine, you should have at least found the secondary fuel pump circuit code.

sd , your right i didn,t put it in 4th or let gears stop turning before shifting!it dosnt stall regularly i was in a rush, not any more.i didnt get secondary fuel pump code,so let me tell you about today.first off i,ve already done cps up,i own an 89 parts car so i started changing ignition parts[89 ran fine until today].first dis mod.,nothing.then cam pos. sen. ,no luck, then coil pack...then eec guess what?NOTHIN' AND NOW THE PLUGS ARE SOAKED!!!!! so i must have fouled the plugs ,well [i know not to run anything but motorcraft rip off junk in it]but now i'm desperate and ******,and FORD is'nt open on sundays!so off to NAPA to find a compatable set of plugs.autolite makes one ,part#AP3924 yes it is a platinum plug and under $2.00 and it looks identical[except motorcraft markings]anyway I dried all cylenders put in new plugs and BANG!! still nothing...sooooo i shut down fuel pump and connected scanner again ,now i get FPM circuit [because i triped monitor]and thermactor air system problem - right side air flow always upstream, code 95.also thermactor air diverter[TAD OR AM-2]solinoid:circuit failure or electro drive fan:circuit failure, code 81.so where in the f..k is the thermactor and what the f..k does it do............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!i hate to pay FORD but after 8 hours and the most typing i heve ever done, one more hour i give up.

Steve,

Your codes don't make sense. Why did you "shut down the fuel pump" to run the test? I don't know of any EEC test that requires this. See the EEC test site below and the included link for the two-digit code descriptions.

The Autolite plugs are too tall to let the plug boots seal properly on the valve covers to keep the dirt and moisture out of the plug wells. Put the correct plugs in when you get a chance. The cheapest source is FordPartsNetwork.com at $3.99 each. The Motorcraft AGSP32PP plugs are not crap and are the ONLY plugs made specificaly for the SHO engine and the ONLY ones that fit and perform correctly. Ford doesn't make them - Nippon Denso does.

You are replacing all of these parts, but you haven't mentioned checking for spark or fuel pressure. Check for spark. If no spark, does the CHECK ENGINE light stay on while you are cranking the engine? If so, the CID sensor (cam sensor) is not providing a signal. Otherwise, it is either the CPS, the DIS, or the coil pack. Check all of the connections to the above components.

If spark, then is there 40 psig of pressure at the tap on the fuel rails? If not, you either have a terminally plugged fuel filter or most likely, a failed fuel pump.
