speedometer problems

my speedometer needle has started to jump and bounce around their is sound from inside the dash like a spinning noise that is slipping the needle is off about 20mph faster and is consantly bouncing. could it be the cable or the speedo itself

Sounds like the speedo itself. You can usually find them on eBay for less than $50.

My '93 did that and it was the speedo.

my '93 also did that, but after pulling and lubing the speedometer cable, it was just like new.

A while ago, Scott Patterson mentioned something about a service lubrication hole for the speedo cable. Does anybody know where this is? My speedo jumps and makes noise too. I tried to take out the dash, but when I was pulling the instrument panel out, I had trouble not scraping the printed circuit up (remember it's an 89), so I backed out.
