I was driving down the road and my speedometer stopped working...then a few minutes later (after i restarted the car and drove for a while) it started working again...

how hard will this be to fix, and where can i find some white gauge backing things, and more importantly is there anyone in Michigan that would be willinh to help w/ this?

i had this problem too. it was stuck at 30mph.... then i came to a stop, it dropped down to 0. then i shut the car off. turned it back on, then drove it. it was all good after that..... from what i have heard, its just that the bearing gets dirt in it. if you take out the dash, and the cluster, you could spray some wd-40, then oil it.
Also this is realted to the "jumpy speedo" .
what i did, instead of taking the cluster out, i just loosened the dash trim, and gave the top of the dash a good hit. this took care of the problem. no jumpy speedo and no more stopped speedo.
i would hit it a couple times, just to make sure....
i was actually mad at her, and hit the dash... then said, F-it, put the dash back together, then drove her, and it was fixed..... i then gave her a kiss...... lol

oh yeah, the speedo was stuck at 30, in a school zone.... rated at 20.... i was like oh S***!!!!! i tried hitting the brakes, but it didnt work... i was like........  ...... LOL that was fun.... considering there was a cop behind me......

you might want to check the connector on the trans. the electrical connector, and the top nut. also check the nut on the trans.
