I'm getting a scraping noise from the speedo cable behind the dash. Is graphite Lock Ease suitable for lubricating the cable ? I have a set of new speedo cables on the shelf, bought from a Rockauto closeout for a few bucks, but though I'd try lubing first.

Lock ease seems to have done the trick so far. Glad I read older posts about the retaining clip, and separating the upper cable. It took less than 1 minute to disconnect, **** and reconnect the upper cable. Gently push inward on the wire loop and the cable pops right out and then do the same when installing it. It expands to let the cable slide in and out, then locks in place when you let it go.
