sparkplug tq?

ok, I do NOT have a tq wrench, I am installing new plugs, is there any trick so that I don't overtighten them? thanks

use a 6" extension and a 16mm socket. Tighten to hand-tight using just the extension. Then, with a 3/8" ratchet, tighten 1/2 turn past hand-tight. That should do you well. It's enough to crush the crush washer on the plug, but it won't strip out the threads. Basically, tighten until it doesn't wanna tighten any more. Don't force it. Spark plugs are pretty forgiving.

Yes there is. Clean out any and all gunk from the spark plug wells BEFORE you take out the old spark plugs. Make sure the washer seating area is clean. Clean with rags soaked in mineral spirits, if you have to.

Use a ratchet wrench no longer than 6" so you can feel when the crush washer has been flattened. You'll notice a slightly harder turning on the wrench and then it will get much harder. Stop there and you are good to go.

Don't forget to put a small amount of anti-sieze compound on the threads of the new spark plug to keep it from locking itself to the aluminum head.

Kinda sounds like the seal is from the socket (spark plug socket that is).

If it is in fact on the threaded portion....

I tighten them like I tighten my intake bolts. I hold the ratchet (3/8") on the head so that I don't have the availability to torque the crap out of it and just like Tom said, you can feel when it is starting to crush the washer.

Hmmmm.... maybe a Rhodes scholar put o-rings on the plug threads to keep oil from seeping out of the cylinders and into the plug wells.

I am pretty sure it came out of the wrench, the smart one that did the previous plug/wire job decided it would look better with the wire loom around the plug wires !!!!!!!!!!!! if that piston hadn't have been at the top of the cylinder I would have had Plastic in my cylinder!!!!! Woohoo! I got it out I hope....(+) Thanks Y'all
