Well, as all of us already know, we can't put an aftermarket head unit in without some heavy modification. This puts us in a perplexing situation.... cut up my dash to put an out-of-place looking head unit in, or go with some type of converter? Well, I have decided to go with the converter. I chose this for two reasons; 1) I wouldn't feel comfortable cutting up my dash. 2) I would look WAY out of place. So, what I plan on doing is this. I'm going to use one of these PAC OEM-2 things to hook up two amps to the factory radio. One of the amps will be used to power the 4 speakers, the other amp to power my subwoofer (a 12" Type-R). I haven't decided yet on what speakers I would like. I see that a lot of the guys around here have been going with Infinity speakers. Yes, they are really good speakers, but I would also like to see what some other good options are. I'm thinking 6x8 in the rear deck, and maybe using a 5.25 component set up front; utilizing the factory location for the tweeter. From what I see, it appears as though there is a limited amount of space in the door. Speakers sometimes hit on the window when rolled down, from what I have read. So, I think by going with a 5.25 speaker, the adapter bracket would give me enough room to clear. However, where would I put the crossover? Should I run new wiring somehow to the cabin, maybe even the trunk? How would I get the wiring from the door, to the cabin? When I do decide on what I will be using, I will let you guys know. Also, I'll try to do a write-up about this difficult task of hooking up an amplifier (or more) to the stock "football" radio. I'll keep you guys updated... Thanks!
