'92 SHO, pulled into a parking spot, and as I go to put it in reverse before I get out, something broke. The shifter is all loose and sloppy, and I can't select any gears. My guess is that it would be something in the linkage, but I was wondering if this was a common problem, and if any of you could maybe help me pinpoint the exact problem. I tried to check underneath real quick, but couldn't really see anything, though I was in a hurry to get to work.

TIA

First off check the stabilizer bar (the one that bolts to the trans case). If it is loose or out chances are you broke the bolt. The only other thing would be something on the rod shifter itself (inside the black box). I've broken both.
