OK so I know many of you are eager to hear about the installation and performance of my new wiper blades (Not). After half an hour I figured out which of the 5 plastic bits matched the wiper arms, but could not get them to attach. (I think Hellen Keller must have prepared the instruction sheet.) Before I scratched the hood, I went back to the dealer (tail between..). The tech attached one, but struggled with the second, so asked for help. (I'm feeling gooood now) The service manager broke the plastic piece on the second (now I'm feeling redeemed), but got another piece and snapped in on. So far they are performing well.

I'm actually in need of some new wipers, I don't see anything about power, could you please let us know if the butt dyno felt any extra hp's?

(in all seriousness, I do need wipers but have been putting it off because I had a very similar experience the first time I swapped them, I did it myself but took more swear words than I figured wipers should take)

Hey SHOthyme, these stories remind me of one of my dad's expressions "let a plumber do a plumber's job" The wipers at the dealer are a few more bucks, but if you can get them to put them on without scratching your paint, is worth it. I never had this issue with any previous car.

My wipers started chattering. For kicks I tried the alcohol, vinegar, vaseline you tube trick. Now 6 months later they are still quiet and perform like new.

I've never heard of that, but after checking it out, I'm going to give it a try. Thanks!

Took one last oil sample of my motor before the rebuild. I paid 17 a quart for race oil. I wanted the extra protection and I have to say I’m very pleased my engine never blew up. I’m thinking the extra cost of premium oils and fluids, gas, etc are all worth their weight in gold when protecting against untimely failures.

If anyone didn’t catch it when I shared it before, it’s Royal Purple XPR 5w30. I made probably 20+ full quarter mile passes with it, of which about more than 12 were with nitrous. Even though it’s about a 500 mile interval it must have been **** for her....I only wanted EVERYTHING she had and she put up a fuss...but she made it back home every time.

I’m excited to see the results from BlackStone Laboratories. FEBD8450 BF5E 4660 B235 1415BBB656EF D8801D47 213C 4C5A 9BF4 1C4C9058FE91 83D5AF72 6225 4424 A8F6 14B2D574848D

I haven’t done them yet but I hear my brakes squealing, the po I bought the car from “2010” said something about brembo brakes. I’ve read about an upgrade from the 2010 to the 2013 brakes, I’m wondering if that’s what he did or just put brembo pads on. Can anyone tell me how I can check for this when I get the wheels of? I’m leaning towards he just put pads on but it would be nice if he did the upgrade. This car stops on a dime, if he didn’t do the upgrade I’m not sure I would bother doing it myself as it stops very good. I will also be needing at least one wiper blade so I am interested in that post as well, funny we can do some very mechanical things and something like a wiper blade turns into a pita. Also I usually use pretty good pads from one of the big part stores, what are you guys recommending? Thanks.

From what I have seen the best pad for our cars are actually the OEM PP Motorcraft pads. They have held up to repeated abuse from members on here and are relatively well priced.

As for the rotor upgrade, that should be easy to figure out with a tape measure. The 2010-2012 SHO rotors are 12.79” whereas the updated ones from 2013 on are 13.86”.

If he installed brembo calipers...id wager the caliper now says brembo on it.

You're better off taking a picture of the calipers and checking for part numbers as well as measuring the size of the rotors. I'd wager the PO put Brembo rotors on and aggressive pads as it's been mentioned that Brembo calipers won't fit our cars.

went to do a rear control arm upgrade on my '89 using 1990 lexus control arms, but they were too long. Now I'm waiting for the left and right handed dies to continue the thread before I cut the arms shorter.
Thinking of getting the taps too, then making a longer connecting nut

I changed right front hub on the edge today... for the second time. Luckily, since it only had about 15k miles it fell right off. Unlucky, it only lasted 15K miles. But, no more thump thump!
