Since my shifter boss needed to be welded since it broke in this thread http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=92489

I tried to lower the whole assembly and i noticed

Someone welded a plate to the frame. Damnit.

I went without this car for 1 year and so much shit is changed/messed up

What do i do now? Cut it off (somehow) do what i need to do with the shifter, then re-weld it up there like that?

1. Light torch
2. Cut Plate
3. do whatever
4. Weld back in place

Too bad you weren't closer, I'd do it for you.

i have no problem doing it.

but im making sure that this ISNT stock right? the "stock" location of the support is where the shifter boss connects to the trans? (its clearly cracked/broke on mine) so i think when the last owner (who went through 3 clutches in 1 year :( ) had the clutches installed, they found that and welded it up there.

That is NOT supposed to be like that.

That is also why your stabilizer boss is borked like it is.

Get that plate out of there, repair the boss, and never do that again.

Wow, just when you think you've seen it all...

yeah welding that is a very bad idea, it has to be able to move with the motor and trans when it torques forward and backwards, by welding it solid to the body when the engine torqued it prolly ripped the mounting boss right off the tranny. DUMB idea...
