Easton what is the CPC? What is its function?
The CPC is a whole different management component. It controls torque limits, thermal management, v max (max speed) and exhaust flaps.

You cannot rewrite the stock CPC. It is locked. However you can get a blank CPC that is unlocked. You clone it to the VIN and then you can adjust that one.

Like the SHO, MB has torque limiters build in as well. When you raise the limiters, it allows the car to make more power. These can be adjusted in the CPC.

Thermal management consists of engine fans, Intercooler pumps, ect. They can make adjustments to thresholds to help mitigate heat soak.

They can raise the v max speed from a limited 186 mph to 200 mph +.

For the exhaust flaps, they can lock them open.

GCA Catless Downpipes came in yesterday. Damn they are really nice. Tabs are nice and strong, welds are super nice, and the heat shielding is attached really well. Not bad for $808 to my door delivered under a week. My fabricator should have some space in his shop next week. He is the same one that did the custom resonator and cat delete on my SHO. Since we have to cut the stock catted downpipes (or drop the trans), he is going to add v bands to the stock downpipes so they are reusable if needed.

Should make the E63s sound really nasty.

So the tuned CPC module is in the car, and I can tell a difference in the ass dyno. She is rowdy and the sound with the exhaust is different. It is more pronounced. This is the general consensus along other CPC tuned E63S owners. I think it has to do with the exhaust flaps being 100% open in Sport + and Race Modes all the time.

I need to put about another 80 miles on it with various mixed driving. This is for adaptive purposes. They didn't put the car back on the dyno this time because hopefully before Christmas, I will have the Catless Downpipes on. They will have to recalibrate the tune again, so no use.

However, I will go to my test spot soon and see what madness happens on the dragy. I don't care it only picks up a tenth and runs a 10.99999999, I will be happy. Until....I am not.

I bet M has never seen 5°!

I was angry. Had to wake her up from her cozy hibernation to get me to work this week. Hauled in about 3 cords worth of logs and Farm truck retaliated on me with a broke a spring mount. Couldn’t get one locally so I have to wait for shipping.

Creaky, but M took it ok. The turbos were happy for sure but way too much transmission cooling for arctic temps. Full operating temp the trans was reading 108°. Loooooong shifts.

Hahaha too much trans cooling....I have never heard that before. I would just throw a piece of cardboard over the trans cooler. Maybe that will help? No doubt I would think she would be creaky and cranky.

Alright. CPC is in and I have done one pass with the dragy on the same crappy street. Here are the results.

Fastest 0 to 60. Still having traction issues, but that is expected. On a better street, it should be faster.

1000008202
First 10 second dragy pass for Elizabeth. Car picked up in the middle for sure. Fastest 1/8 mile et and MPH. That carried over to the fastest ET and MPH. I still think it will go faster as it learns.
1000008199

60 to 130 dropped another 2 tenths.
1000008203
So the CPC did what the Mercedes guys said it would. They said it would drop an ET .2 to .4 tenths, and add another 3 to 4 mph.

So for $3650 I got roughly a gain of 60 hp, and roughly 125 ft tq. That translated to roughly a .43 faster quarter mile and almost 7 mph faster. It also dropped the 60 to 130 by 1.55 seconds. Remember the faster you go, the harder it is to go faster...

I think right now as it sits, with a drag radial it will go 10.7x.

Should get a bump in power with Catless Downpipes when those are installed.

Good stuff.

I plan on driving it a bit more and going back to the street in the next couple of days to see if it will go faster. Give it some more time to learn. Going to do my warm up loop and then straight to the spot. Send it with whatever tire pressures it has. I have been running them at 36 psi square. See if I can pick up a 10.8x pass at 127 mph +.

Next will be running a pass with Mercedes recommended air pressure settings. Below is the picture attached to my fuel flap.

20241207 153858
Since I am not running faster that 135 right now, I am interested in the 41 psi front and 33 psi rear. Once I find a good psi, I will run the rest of the test passes at those pressures.

Next will be optimum tire pressure and a mix of 91 and 100 octane for a 93/94 octane blend. Tuner said it will pick up power. Only one way to find out.

Then back to dyno with the catless downpipes with the tune revision on pure 91 octane. Hopefully we can get near that 700 whp and 800 wtq I will request for them tune it on 91 octane, but I will bring 5 gallons of 100 octane and ask them to pour it in and make a couple of passes so see if it picks up.

Then back to street.

My tuner did say that after downpipes we will be officially out of high pressure fuel pump.

Dont fret....PTG's upgraded HPFP are only 5k. ‍

I don't think I will go down that rabbit hole. I think a good 91octane tune and with catless dp's, and a good drag radial will net me a good 10.6x pass on the street.

If I want to go faster, I will auto swap the Lexus.

If I remember correctly you said that you would have put in a high pressure fuel pump a lot sooner in the SHO for all the benefit it gave you.

Do you think maybe it could have the same benefit in the Mercedes?
