Here are the pictures of my 92 SHO now equipped with Silverstar headlight and foglight bulbs. Ran me about $80 when all said and done, but well worth it. I can actually see at night now!

Here is a shot of before, my car is on the right:

Here is an after shot from about the same distance:

sweet...ford headlights truely do suck :(
I know, I keep thinking how much better they would be if they didn't have that yellow haze on them. Mine aren't to bad compared to some I've seen though...

Looks good man!

Did you get just new foglight bulbs in the factory housings, or do you have aftermarket housings? Just curious, because I think this will be my next mod.

I just put new bulbs in the housings that were on my 92. I think they are factory, or at least they appear to be, although they don't completely fit the hole. The factory brackets are still used though, so I'm not 100% sure whether they are stock or aftermarket, they are different than the stock one's my 91's had. I had bought some Blazers to install, but changed my mind and kept the housings that were already on the car.

after driving for about half an hour with the headlights on, remove the headlight switch handle. feel the metal stud that supports the switch handle.

do u ever experience ur headlight switch assembly being too warm or somewhat warm in general?

They are the same wattage and the same current draw. No heating problems. Just more light.

I've got Cuzo(ricer) Hyper-white 80/100 watt headlights and an aftermarket relay harness, no heating problems and plenty of light. However, for some reason the same exact setup had slightly better light output in my old Gen 1 when compared to my current Gen 2 shrug

Looks great.

Do you have the part numbers and where you got them at?
Thanks,
Eric
The part numbers are the 9007 Silverstars and I believe my foglight lights were 893 Silverstars, don't quote me on the second one though.

I picked them up at Advance Auto, but you can get them at almost any major autoparts store (Autozone, etc.)

I have the silverstars as well. Best performance 'mod' I have invested in yet thumb

BTW:

If you keep your headlamps cleaned, polished, and waxed, they will look like new for a LONG time.

My 15 year old SHO has crystal clear headlamps:

My headlamps look mint. Until I turn them on, that is. I have wetsanded, buffed, and polished the outside of them, but the insides of them are wasted. My SilverStar's look bright, but they only throw out as much light as a pair of flashlights strapped to the hood  .

Guess I know what I'll be replacing come springtime. It is so bad, I shouldn't even drive it at night.

My Jeep, on the other hand....qouted from a State Trooper that pulled me over for driving behind him... "My God. Those have got to be THE Brightest headlights I've ever seen. Have a good night, son." laugh_ti

That is, unless you have driven over a quarter of a million miles at highway speeds over roads with lots of dirt, sand and rocks. There is no way to buff out all of the pits in the front of my well-used car. But then, at $68 for new headlights, I have no reason not to replace them. I guess I like keeping things in the original configuration. Either that, or I am just being cheap. :)

keep in mind that old bulbs will have significantly less light output.

This isn't a 'Ford' thing. This happens with all bulbs. I have silverstars as well, and they look nicer, but they don't put out that much more light.

Also keep in mind that your wiring harness will cause light output deterioration on older cars...like out 9-16 year old taurii...

I have the Silverstar's too and I like them a lot. I'm glad that they dont produce more heat and wattage. Is that the same for the Fog Lights, because I was hesistant to get them also.

A few weeks after I bought my SHO I noticed the headlights were yellowish/fading, so I took them off and cleaned both the inside and outside of the lenses real good. I did the usual (clean, buff, etc.) to the outside, but to clean the inside I used an alcohol-based cleaning solution, mixed it with some water, poured some in, shook them up real good, drained them out, and repeated this process several times.

Final step was to rinse them real good with 100% water and then completely dry them out by blowing compressed air inside until ALL the moisture was gone.

Reinstalled them on my SHO, added some Silverstar bulbs, and honestly I could not be happier with the results. Car now looks great at night (I added new Hella Fogs, too) and even more importantly, my nighttime driving vision has improved 100%. thumb
