Well my power steering is pretty much shot. It's time to fix it because it pretty much doesn't work at all, lets just say it's all me steering that thing. Anyways, what are the signs of a bad pump? Rack? Right now I have no assist at all. It makes that squeeling noise that drives you crazy if you try to turn the wheel while stationary. I'm assuming it has to be the pump or the rack itself. I have no knowledge in this area though and need some input. Any help would be great. And assuming it's one of the two, how much fun will it be to fix if I have access to a heated garage? Any special tools? Thanks in advance:thumb:

Check your fluids. If you turn hard and get the groan, it's most likely that you're low on fluid and just had air enter the system.

check your fluids, but also check your tensioner pulley. I had mine start steering hard all of a sudden a bit over a week ago. I even went ahead and ordered a new pump. Went to start putting the new pump on and noticed the nut was missing for the pulley. Put on a new nut and readjusted the tension. and its all good again. It wasn't making any noise either, that's the weird thing.

Your lucky your pulley didn't fly off at 120mph and make you lose power steering on a slight curve. BTDT. :oogle:

This will be the first thing I check. I really hope that this is the solution but it's never this easy. I'll report back soon!
