No, actually I held back.
I had a big sob story wrote up here but it doesn't matter. The people for whom this is important will do what is necessary to make it happen. With a week's worth of lodging being the biggest expense, I personally don't understand how a local person couldn't ration out a hundred bucks (cost of base convention fee & banquet) over the course of seven months. Nobody ever said you have to do every event or be there the whole time. Grab a Wednesday and Thursday, get your goodie bag, see SHOs at the track, get some food. 2 days off, back to work. That's pretty much what I'm doing, only I'll be off 3 days. I just don't see what the big deal is with that
I've been trying to motivate this area since 2000 and for every truly *nice* event it's always the same. Lotsa talk, little action once it becomes crunch time. After 7 years I guess I'm pretty bitter.
And no Tim, this isn't directed at you, or Mandy, or Joe or anybody in particular. This is a general bitch to the whole Great Lakes SHO community. If you love the car, this is the event of the year and there won't be another opportunity like it anytime soon. Whereas most people would need to pay $200+ just in hotels, the locals can do it for just the base fee. For this kind of SHO experience, you can't beat it.
I don't want any more hard feelings on this, so I'll just say hells yeah I'll be there, and I'll be enjoying for as many people as I can
To answer the other question, yes I'll be there with an 08 Taurus, and there will be plenty of rides, but I'm the only one authorized to do the drive part. Sign up early to sit shotgun in the most powerful factory Taurus ever
