The 95 ATX I picked up has a siezed motor. I pulled the belt and the crank won't move at all. I know it's tough to say without pulling it apart but can these blocks ever be salvaged if they lock up?

The car has 95K on it. Last month they had a new radiator installed and a bunch of other stuff so maybe they screwed something up and it overheated.

Is it completely locked, or can you rotate it backwards to any extent?

If its locked up completly may have of run out of oil or thrown a rod or something else, it could be a number of things - First check the dipstick to see how the oil looks. If there is no oil check the pan for an ejected rod! If the pan is okay she was run dry and there is no hope.

3.2Ls with decent mileage can be had for $400-$600. It would be alot more expensive to rebuild this motor (if it has had fatal internal failure) and well worth it to just drop a used engine in there.

It won't move forward or back. As far as the oil, I haven't checked.

I do have another motor I'm putting in. I'm just wondering if it's worth the time to tear the dead one down and try rebuilding it.
