So I'm finally getting around to upgrading my 2012 brakes with 2013+ brakes and I was wondering since it will be all tore apart should I go ahead an replace my wheel bearings hub assembly. When I first joined the thread many years ago I remember it was popular to go ahead and replace all the bearings because it was a heavy car and it was expected they would go bad at some point. I think one guy even claimed by replacing them with Timken's he got better gas mileage. I'm having my shop do the work, so with parts so this won't be cheap but I also like to get ahead of things. I'm at about 75,000 so it should not be long before things will start to fail. Anyone have any thoughts on this I sure would appreciate your input. Also if anyone has run into issues with the break swap, let me know, I believe it's just a straight swap.

I replaced mine because the car was apart. My mechanic says they are still notorious for failure.

I didn't have a failure of a bearing on my SEL until 120,000 miles. I changed everything at that point. If you do change wheel bearing, wouldn't hurt to change everything connected to the knuckle, control arm, CV axle, tie rod, sway bar link and so on... A heads up, the rear bearings are made in h e l l,. I had to take knuckle off and beat the bearing out over two cinder blocks by using bearing bolts with a socket on them then a good hit with a sledgehammer.

I have heard the same thing and I'm upgrading all the brakes so why not.

Normally I would agree and if anything needs replacing I will, but I had to replace the steering gear last month so my budget for the year is already in ruin.

I hope they don't have that much trouble but I will give them fair warning, they usually do really old cars so hopefully they can figure it out.

Thanks for getting back to me, it's probably a waste of money but what the ****, having cool cars is all about wasting money or we would all be driving a Prius.
