You know of any U-pull yards in Tuscon? I might be headed that way for something regardless.

Unfortunately I haven't been to any down here. My SHO is on the back burner for now sitting at my parents' house in Phoenix so when I'm working on it I'm in Phx. Luckily I haven't had to make any junkyard runs for GMC Jimmy parts yet...

There a U-Pull-It on Michigan. They have billboards up around town, but I haven't had a free weekend to start checking the junkyards out since I moved up here.

Looks like I'm only about 15 min north of that place. I might head down sometime while the weather is still nice, maybe this weekend.

`92 with trashed gray interior at Ecology. I know the last owner of this SHO and he said the engine ran good and the trans shifted great.

Also, the silver `89 that was at Ecology is now a soup can......

It's too hot to go digging for a transmission for a few months. Come on Fall!

Yup, I should probably do that. It'll have to wait until I get back from CA at the end of the month though.

Maybe I'll find one on the beach in San Clemente.

Is this the Ecology on 25th ave? I was out there yesterday, must have walked right past this one. (other pics soon)

If it ran and shifted great why was it junked? Front end collision?

I may snag it. I was looking at another motor today (non-SHO), but it fell through. I have the truck empty and ready to go.

Anybody feel like a J-yard expedition tomorrow? Let me know.

Went to Ecology on 25th Ave Friday, but I didn't see any SHOs- must have walked right by the silver one above if it was the same Ecology. Saw a mostly intact 87 or 88 Turbocoupe with 5-spd, seemed to be missing only the turbo, plus an Opel.

I still needed a DIS, so I went to the U-Pull-It (I think) immediately South of Ecology and saw 2 Gen2 cars. Silver 92 with some VERY nice black interior parts and a clean looking motor, and a pretty clean looking red 95.

I think the '92 was junked due to a blown diff- I may go back to look and grab the 3.0 if so. It only had 115k on the clock, and the motor was really clean. I may take another look at Ecology first to see if I can find the silver Gen2 in the posts above. I could certainly use a good 3.2 instead of a 3.0, and I am tempted if it's a good auto trans.

Anybody up for a Junkyard run PM me and I'll check my messages tonight.

Yes, Ecology on 25th. He said there was too many electrical gremlins.

Tom, do you have any good motors laying around that you might part with? I am getting the itch to get Donovan's old green '91 out of my garage and back on the road.

I was thinking 3.2 swap, but I could work with a 3.0 instead.

Thanks,
-Josh

The only motor I have that is not spoken for or way too expensive is the 3.0 out of Jesse's old Spy Hunter. It's been sitting outside and I don't know the condition of it but you can have it for 150 plus a 10 to the Forum.

Aaaand we're back. Hit Ecology on 27th Ave just after they put out some new stuff in the Ford section. I pulled the coolant and washer tanks and DIS from the white SHO, and found a T-bird SC with the SC and plumbing still intact, which I also snagged the DIS from. There was also was a fox-body mustang with "GT" trim and what looked to be a fresh turbo 4-banger. Turbo was already gone, but the motor looked brand new.

Find of the day was a mark 8 Lincoln with the Intech 32v still in one piece. I may go back for that tomorrow morning, but I don't know where I'll keep it if I do. But damn those are neat motors, and judging by the state of the car it's a runner that didn't sell at auction. Tempting. Anybody in the mood fora J-yard run this weekend?

I'm actually leaving in little bit to hit some yards here in Tucson. I've been meaning to for almost a year, but it seems like every weekend is packed.

Well, found out I need to be at home for a grandparent / great grandparent visit before lunch. Not much hope of a J-yard run today. Maybe tomorrow.

So, visited the Pull A Part on Michigan today. Pay a buck, see some interesting items.

I ended up meandering through the other sectons, heading generally towards the Ford section, just to see what they had. Lots of normal commuter stuff, and a surprising number of rollovers.

Then I saw this:

Hadn't seen a Shelby Charger in a while. Predictably, the head and turbo were gone.

Into the ford section:

Engine was gone, but still nice to see an old xr4ti. Always loved the dual spoilers/wings on the rear.

But it was nowhere near as cool as the next item:

That lovely green, offset by the faux wood panels. What could be cooler?

How about replacing the carpeting with astroturf?

Lots of other cars that were interesting to me, but I'm weird. :)

And, for those of you into that kind of stuff, there was an older Ford full size van done up like an ice cream truck with all the stickers, but no serving counter. Guess you have to go inside the van to get your rocket pop.

Also, for anyone looking to score an 8.8" IRS, there were several relatively intact tbirds and cougars, as well as this:

Lincoln Mk VIII with aluminum center section and lower arms.

No SHOs on the lot, but I did score a mint condition parking brake pad and a 3 dial manual A/C head unit with a selector that still clicks. And, after looking under several 3rd gen SLOs, I believe I found the subframe I'm going to go after to start my 3rd gen subframe swap.

Then, on the way out I saw this:

So, I got in, installed the parking brake pad, and drove home.

I might as well keep the theme of 'interesting junkyard finds' going.....
