Hey, I finally got my short block today from ebay. It was like christmas all over again. Now just gotta finish the heads and i can assembly the thing finally.

got mine coulpe weeks ago.. like christmas for me to... :angelnot::woohoo:

my heads are rebuilt.... so i should be good there.. i just got to get the cash up to buy the head gaskets and bolt and i can R&R the motor..

Don't forget the rear main seal. And there is an undrilled boss on the left side of the motor for a tranny bolt.

Thanks for the info on the hole that needs to be drilled. I had heard about main seal but not the missing hole.

FWIW I was eyeballing some Duratec head bolts this weekend. They are about 3/4" longer than the V8 bolts and come with a washer. Looks to me like you can just whack them off a bit and use them in the V8. Available at most parts stores.

someone posted on TCCA about the head bolts. From the pictures the ford head bolt have a longer shoulder on the v6 tec. on the after market ones i don't know.

The v6 bolts were also longer then the v8 bolts.

Those were the exact bolts that Paul looked at - he was at my house last weekend. The Duratec bolts are ~1/2" longer, and that difference is entirely in the unthreaded shank; ie, the threaded length is identical between the two. I've looked closely at the two, and I'm going to thread the Duratec bolts higher up and see if that does the trick. IIRC, the thread is M10-1.25
