Well, I am 60% through my suspension upgrade. Tonight I accomplished grinding down and painting my spot welds (which I drilled out yesterday) along with changing my swaybar bushings. The bushing job I have been dreading just by having to drop the subframe and blah blah blah. The job went perfectly without a single problem. My old bushings that I removed were cracked and not in very good condition. So, after installing and greasing up my new bushings I find the swaybar is not as easy to move as it previously was, is this what is supposed to happen and I will find it handles better? I used to be able to pull the swaybar back and forth and it would rotate down by it's own weight in the old bushings. Now, it will stay wherever I put it and to pull it back and forth I must twist it and pull. It doesn't take a lot of force but definately more so than before. I am just wanting to make sure that this is what is supposed to happen.

Thanx, Doug

With brand new bushings it should be a bit stiff.

I have MOOG TPR bushings, and they made the sway bar stiff as you mentioned. They were greased well with synthetic grease. But only 5k later, I changed out the endlinks, and it seems that the bushings have worn in a bit. Still greased, but the sway bar dropped with it's own weight.

Same experience with SHONUT's bushings. They are fine. You should also notice a big change if you are replacing the original rubber bushings. Make sure you have the proper orientation of the zerks otherwise you'll find it impossible to use them!

Are you talking the front or rear TPR bushings? I was unable to find a part number for the front TPR bushings, only the rear

OK, now I don't feel so stupid!

So, what do you do for front bushings? I still have my OEM bushings in the front and I really don't like squeaks

you know, Im going to have to check my reciepts now...

All I did was take my old bushings into CarQuest, and matched them up with some Moog TPR bushings off the sheft.

At least I think it was TPR.

Gloss black, very stiff, and definately not regular rubber bushings

All of the MOOG TPR bushings that I have bought so far have been either blue or red. I have what I think is a complete list of all the SHO upgrade parts available from MOOG and also the Police upper strut mounts (fronts from Motorcraft and rears from Ford). The only thing that I am missing is the bushings for the control arm ends (all of them, front and rear) and the front sway bar bushings. These parts I have not been able to locate in TPR.
I will say this though, with all the suspension parts I have put on, this car handles like it is on rails. I have been able to lead much "better" cars on merry chases with this suspension package.
I tried to post the list here but since it also has the drawings from the MOOG catalog, it didn't seem to want to come through but if anyone wants it, email me and I can send it as a MSWord doc attachment.

just an update, if anyone cares :corn:

I found the paperwork on the SB bushings I got from CarQuest.

No description besides "bar bushing kit"

Ill call them Monday to see if they are indeed TPR. Unless somebody wants to run the part numbers:

CQC K80019
CQC K8761

Maybe I got rubber... I dunno, but Im curious now

According to the Moog website the K80019 is a "Sway Bar Frame Bushing/Kit w/25MM BAR " and it doesn't say anything about it being TPR but then it doesn't say anything about all the parts that I know ARE TPR!

Now, I happen to know that the K8761 IS TPR as that is what I purchased and installed on my wifes car. It is listed on the Moog websire as a "Sway Bar Frame Bushing/Kit REAR SUSPENSION w/26MM BAR "

Also there is a listing for K80018 calling it a "Sway Bar Frame Bushing/Kit w/24MM BAR " and again, nothing about it being TPR

If there is someone out there that works for an automotive parts store and could look into this I would be most appreciative.

I would also be interested in finding out if the Moog number K8622 " Lower Control Arm Bushing/Kit FRONT SUSPENSION ARM TO FRAME - SHO " is TPR and if there are TPR bushing made for both ends of the rear control arms.

I have expended quite a bit of time trying to figure out which parts are TPR and which are rubber for the SHO and this is as far as I can go without help from someone at Moog (that actually KNOWS what I'm talking about)
