steevil:
SHO left me stranded at work. $75 to get it towed home. argh!
hop in, put the key in and it turns over. Won't run. CPS?
I don't own a code scanner so I have no idea what is wrong.
Sounds like a classic CPS failure?
1, how much does a new CPS cost?
2, DOes anybody have a pic of where the CPS is located?
Thanks folks!
See Shotimes.com to run the codes without anything more than a wire, pen, and piece of paper.
Basically you put a wire in the test harness (under the hood above the strut near the passenger window), turn the key on, and count how many times the check engine light blinks.
As far as the CPS, does it ever "hiccup" (stall for a second and the tach drops) while driving? Mine did.
The CPS is less than $40 @ Autozone.com
It's located right next above the crankshaft where the belts are all driven from. You have to take off the pulleys, timing cover, and belts. To pull those off you remove battery, part of the intake, the liner under the passenger fender, wheel, and other assorted junk.
I just did mine the last 2 days. It would have taken less than 6 hours except for a few VERY stubborn bolts/screws, putting most of it back together to realize the timing was off, then getting it almost all back together to realize I forgot a part on the crankshaft and had to take it all apart again.. :
Contact Scott P. because he has a lot of info on this. Except he'll tell you that the CPS is $34.99 but the price has gone up recently..
Good luck!
