SHO Where did all this oil come from???

97 Ford Taurus SHO I had taken the intake apart to get to the rear coils for testing due to a misfire issue. When I took the surge tank out I see it's got alot of oil in it, maybe a 16th of an inch or better. It's also coats the inside of all of the intake tunnels. Could this be the source of the misfire, and where did it come from? Thanks..

I would be very careful about your "misfiring issue"

That is often mistaken for cam failure.

When the coils come back good, which they probably will, DO NOT drive the car.

I doubt the oil in the intake has anything to do with the misfire.
The messy intake is normal AFAIK... I reckon a pcv catch can would help.
As for cam failure, I don't think a misfire is a symptom. However, if you are not aware of the poorly designed camshafts, check v8sho.com. They need to be welded, or it will be SHOBOOM!
