sho reving high

Ok guy this my 2nd post here. my car is reving very high drive drive (2500 rpm) at a stand still. Does anybody know what it can be.

In gear it idles that high?

It would help to know what year it is and what transmission it has. Other than that, I have no idea what it could be. Just felt like posting.

My '86 SLO wag. has done the same thing. It scared the **** out of me.... its not supposed to be able to do that!!

I think it had to do with a temp. sensor(like $5) .....I put in a new one and it hasn't done it since.

There are two temp. sensors though one for the gauge and one for the computer....

Durring the same time it wouldn't start easily. The temp sensor tells the motor that it is too hot and makes it had to start....some times I would have to give it gas....

Mine would stick at 1500 RPM in park for some reason.. I pulled codes and had something wrong with my throttle position sensor.. Pull the codes they tell you alot..
