My 1995 ATX has been getting bad gas milege of late and it bogs down in second gear with the pedel pressed about half way. After ever shift from 1 to 2 or 2 to 3 or 3 to 4 the car has no power unless you pin the pedel then the car is fast????Could it be spark plugs?TPS?Cats?

also there is a smellin the car of burnt oil and sometimes gasoline probably the rear seal (oil smell)
it has 140K onit.

hey unplug your maf sensor and take it for a spin and see if that helps!

First thing I would do is check your air cleaner. Guys have been know to forget this little item and feel real dumb when their car starts running bad. Not that this would ever happen to me. headbang

I have seen a number of cases where problems of this sort were addressed by looking at the hi-tech stuff while ignoring the simple items. The first line in most of the troubleshooting manuals reads "verify all air and fuel passages and all electrical connections before proceeding"

thanks for the input, the air filter is a k+n and it is clean. I recently changed the theromosat, fuel filter and cleaned the maf with contact cleaner. I need to change the plugs because they have not been changed in about 45K do i need wires too I changed them 45K ago. They seem fine.
