I can’t believe I’m saying this, but my new SHO is a more satisfying car than my past and current BMWs. I’ve owned five BMW cars from a 3 series to a 7. I currently have a 535i with twin turbos. The SHO’s motor is MUCH smoother from a standing start and more responsive when you stomp on the gas. I know the displacement is .5 liters larger, but the 5 is a lighter car. The FORD engineers have actually designed a better motor than the company with Motor as its middle name!
I’ve had the car two weeks and have already put 2200 miles on the odo. I’m in sales and my car is my office. This thing is off the charts. I’m so glad to buy an American car again and not regret it. Thanks for this forum. This is a great place to exchange info on the car.

Shoot, you're nuts. Don't get me wrong. I love my SHOs and all and always have, but I'd trade my SHO for an M6 and never look back.

Mmm, I test drove the M6 and it really did not have a lot of cabin room....in order for me to fit in the front, no one could ever sit behind me unless they had no legs.

For the price of a new SHO, you can get a really nice used one.

About $42K with mileage in the 30's.......

I don't want to contribute to any brand-standing or bashing either way, but while Ford has had its bright and dark moments as well, not everything that comes out of Bavaria is wine and roses although that's what they want you to believe. Having owned/driven European, Asian, and Domestic vehicles, other than some feature and gadget differences from model to model, there is no reason at this point in automotive technology that any maker of non-exotic class vehicles has any real advantage over the other. Perceptions and image have fortunately become less jaded recently thanks to the realities of the current state of the overall economy sinking in for most people.

Will certain people still be fanboys of one particular brand or another? Of course and it will always be that way. However, there is nothing like a good dose of economic reality and a more level tech playing field to provide for better values. I think Ford proved that nicely with the SHO.

Shoot, around here a 645/650 may go for that price, but not an M6 bro. Cheapest one I've seen around here was mid $50s, and that was months ago.

Having owned both BMW & VW's (bought new) I can tell you with confidence that my new SHO gives up very little if anything to these brands in particular. That is not to say I will never look at another brand, that IMHO would be just plain dumb. Each mfr must decide where it will cut corners in the effort to save money and obviously some choices are better than others but my now 10 year old bimmer is an example of some really bad choices. My headlight lenses have been replaced once and are ready to be polished out again. My rear deck lid is noticably faded and maintenance costs for this vehicle are prohibitively high for no particular advantage (such as extended life). I love the way the car drives but it does not out weigh the negatives. GO SHO!!

BS, do you really think you get the same driving experience for a performance oriented person from a Accord to a BMW 530? I think the 5 series has way more on the accord, and its just not in features or gadgets, I'm not even thinking of stuff like that.

I'm talking RWD, big brakes, inline 6, big wheels, nice aluminum suspension and badass steering feel...... I think that puts it at a BIG advantage over other comparable sized cars for the right person.

I still care about what drives a car, not just what the seats do for you.

I was hoping my post would have been interpreted with some common sense. This is exactly why I normally stay out of these topics. An Accord is clearly not a comparable model to a 5 series but an Acura TL is or equivalent Lexus and yes the SHO (obviously not pricewise but that is not a bad thing). In my profession, I sit in and inspect in many different aspects, more cars in a week than most people will own in two life times. Does that make me any kind of uber authority? Nope. But it does mean I know something about vehicle design, construction, technology, options, etc. let alone the cars I've actually owned.

I have nothing personal againt any manufacturer. I just don't let marketing or how much I paid for a car dictate how I feel about myself or much care about how other people will perceive me for what I drive or even why other people drive what they drive. I drive what I like and like what I drive and that's all that matters to me. Some people should really learn to lay off the automotive "coolaide" though, BMW or otherwise. I've said my peace.

Dtech, brilliant! That is exactly how I feel. I just came out of an Infiniti G35X and my wife came out of a BMW Z4. My new ride is a 2010SHO and we got a Corvette LS3 vert for my wife. I have had the oddest stares from my friends and colleagues but I am happy. These vehicles perfectly suit my/our needs and I let myself think broadly enough to look, once again, at our domestic manufacturers. That is not to knock any manufacturer, next time I may buy Korean! Buy what you like and don't let anyone influence that decision except YOU!

my partner at our factory in germany all have new bmw's evry 3 years (99% of new cars in Germany are leased).

Any how they all agree the SHO (when the engineers travel back & forth) is way better all around, even though the bmw costs more than the MKS.

Thanks for the post i was reluctant to post as others would not beleive me.:thankyou:
