I am looking to replace my mocha interior with a black interior.

besides the console, are there any differences or advantages/disadvantages to using a normal taurus headliner, door panels dash, etc?

i exclude the seats from that list, obviously.

finding a black taurus interior would seem easier, i would think.

let me know!

Except for the seats,guage cluster,dash emblem,and dash trim color(sometimes),they are the same parts.

dash trim?

i really think that a black interior would look pretty...well.. slick in my dark green genII mtx.

cant you just replace the dash top/cover? and not have to worry abt the guage cluster or anything like that?

is it just a front cover, or an entire unit?

By dash trim,i mean the plastic panel that is around the cluster on a Gen I.The SLO`s had some wood grain trims.
Removing a dashboard is a huge job,i did this mocha to black swap last year.And even though i have a black dash,i opted to dye my mocha one while it was in the car.Mark Nunnaly talked me out of the swap because it`s so involved,even Helm recommends you have 2 people for it.

how involved is it?
could two people with an afternoon make a dash swap?

and are the door panels easy as i think they are, or are there any hidden suprises?

If you don't have ANY idea on how to remove the door panels, I strongly suggest forgetting about removing the dashboard...It's ALOT harder than you may think..

I swapped my dash shell this fall while doing a heater core replacement. It added about 2 hours the the job and I only missed one connection the first time.

If you have a self-service junkyard around, go there and practive. That way if you screw it up, it doesn't ruin your car.
