Hello all. I've been lurking here since getting my '11 SHO 02/28/11. It is one **** of a car. I love it....but yesterday afternoon, it did sonething I can't explain.
This is my company car. Yeah, I have a SHO as a company car. I'm paying for everything over the cost of a Focus, the base company car.
Anyway, i had been in the car all afternoon, pulled into the driveway at 5:15 pm, shut down my laptop, packed up my work stuff and shut the car off. Windows are all up, sunroof closed (had not been open all day - saw 112 degrees on the dash at one point yesterday).
I went to the passenger side and removed the laptop bag and took it in the house, came back out and got brief case out of the front seat and took it in the house. I put the laptop in the cradle in my office and power it back up and talked to my wife about what we were going to do for supper. While talking to the wife, I was emptying my pockets onto the corner of my desk, maybe 12-15 feet from the car, just outside. as we started to leave my office, I glanced outside and noticed that the passenger window was down. On further examination, both front windows were down and the sunroof was popped at the rear.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas at all?

If you (or something) presses and holds the unlock button on your FOB, the two front windows roll down and sun roof vents.
james

+1 -- while in your pocket, something must have been pushing the door open button on the remote which would unlock the door(s) and open all the windows including the s/roof.

Welcome btw -- enjoy the SHO and no, it's not haunted.:)

Not haunted on page 81 of the Owner's Manual under Global open windows: "Press (unlock symbol) on the remote transmitter for more than two seconds to begin opening the two front windows and (if equipped) vent the moon roof. The (unlock symbol) can then be released and the windows will complete the opening operation and fully vent the moon roof."

So nothing magical, just an additional feature to let you enjoy the car even more.

I love that feature. I was just screwing around with my wife's 11' Ford Fusion Sport and it has the same feature, used it to scare her when she got in it the other day. She didn't think it was funny....:smash:

Yeah, too bad there's no way to roll them up other than getting in the car. Guess it would have made too much sense for them to program the FOB to make 'em go back up when you press the "lock" button huh?

Are you within range of the car where you can see the interior lights come on or the doors unlock? For testing purposes, make sure you are close enough to the car where you can confirm the car is getting signal from the FOB. Then press and hold the unlock button for a few seconds (may be more like 5 seconds) until the windows begin to roll down and the sunroof begins to tilt.

I love learning a new feature about my car after owning it for a year. :thankyou:

Yeah this isn't working for me. Must be in a setting thats turned off or something.

More from page 81:

Note: The ignition must be in the off position and the accessory delay feature must be not activated for this feature to operate.

Note: To disable this feature, contact your authorized dealer
From page 83:
Accessory delay

With accessory delay, the radio, power windows, and the moon roof (if equipped) operate for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned from on to off or until one of the front doors are opened.

Crash, I'm thinking if yours' isn't working, that it probably needs one of Ford's computers plugged into it and the feature turned on.

The accessory delay feature is different from the remote window down feature. That accessory delay is what allows you to turn off the engine and continue to listen to the radio, operate the windows or sunroof, and operated the rear window shade until either the delay times out or a front door is opened. I don't think the remote window down feature is configurable.

I stand corrected. Per the Factory Service Manual:

NOTE: The global open feature may be enabled/disabled via scan tool or in some cases modified by the customer following a procedure listed in the vehicle Owner's Literature. For a complete list of available programmable parameters, refer to Section 418-01.

When the unlock button of the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter is held for 2 seconds, the Smart Junction Box (SJB) sends a signal on the global open circuit, to both front door window motors and the roof opening panel motor, to open the windows. If the accessory delay relay is active, the global open feature will not operate.
-----------

Per the table, the SJB does require a scan tool to configure, and one of the parameters to configure is the Global Open feature.

That's what I do with it. Really helps take the interior down a few degrees before firing up the AC.
