Okay, I see what you mean now...

I'm 99.9% sure that the mounting boss on the right (rear) side is just a solid chunk of aluminum that can be safely removed.

I would imagine that the left one is also solid aluminum with nothing important running through it, but I'm not really sure.

Has anyone else experimented with a 3.0L head in this respect?

cut the piece off, its just a chunk of aluminium. now i have no clearance problems for my slave cylinder for the clutch.

test fitting transmission now

EDIT

transmission bolted perfectly with slave master cylinder now that the chunk of metal has been cut off.

engine and transmission do fit in the engine bay... the issue now is that there is about 1/4 of an inch or less of clearance between the passengers side engine bay and the sho engine.

I will take some pics on sunday to show you guys.

thanks for your feedback so far.

sooooo another big thing that had to be done to make sure everything fit safely (mainly fit), I had to move the whole assembly, both engine and tranny 1/2" or so towards the drivers side to give clearance to the crankshaft pulley and the other accessories, otherwise they would rub against the passenger side fender/frame.

this engine is not going in without a fight so far.

im hoping i dont have to move it even more because that would definetively is going to need custom halfshafts...

engine and tranny are in position and seems that the hood closes with no problem, the next big thing in adapting this to my car is a Y pipe...

any recommendations or suggestions ???

no shit eh? wish i would have seen this thread sooner. ive had my vulcan tranny and sho motor bolted up for a little while and just recently got around to fitting it in

instead of messing with the mounts or half shafts on my mx6. i kicked the frame back a bit on the passenger side to clear all the pulleys. but there is absolutely no room for the power steering. i take it that your power steering clears fine the way you have it mounted up?? how did you move the whole assembly over a half inch, slot the mounts??

We need some pics here! Extensive!

For those of us who'd like to do a nice MX-6 or Probe with the engine it should have come with in the first place!

This and that. I'm going to embarking on this swap in lieu of my FE3 swap very soon.

Oh jesus Z...hahaha

Didn't realize this was you :)

You ever measure the 3.4 V8 in size?

I found some interesting materials with transmission fitments.

ive never even considered it. i want to keep the torque as low as possible as these vulcan h type gearboxes arent easy to come across. if you do check into it let me know how that works out. id definitely lmao with a v8 under the hood of a 1g mx6 :)

so now im ordering parts that are needed to make fitment better, issue is the oil filter will not clear my radiator so im thinking of relocating the oil filter since im not sure about the parts what do you SHO masters think??

Oil Filter Bypass Ford & Chrysler .188 in. Thread, 3.125 in. x 3.375 in. O-Ring, Kit

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-7692/

and then i could use

Fitting, Straight, -10 AN Male to 3/4 in. NPT Male, Aluminum, Blue Anodized

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MRG-7692/

to convert the connections to 10AN which then will be easy enough to connect with SSlines to a remote dual filter or single filter adapter.

Any thoughts on this?? suggestions???

Also the pressure plate will be a sachs (is that a good brand??) and will be mated to a probe clutchmasters clutch disk. which should be able to hold the extra HP since southbech will not sell me the clutch disk by itself.

thanks for any input..

Get ahold of SHOSource for the disc. They can get what you want made. I've talked with them before about having a custom clutch made for my V8 MTX.

ok here is a late late update on this project, but i need your help again guys

engine and wiring are from a 92 sho mtx

engine and wiring is all done but i have run into and issue..

the DIS has a wire that is supposed to go the clutch switch, this is pin 6 on the DIS and gets power whenever the clutch switch is closed.

what is the voltage going through that???

does the SHO taurus has two switches on the clutch pedal?? or is that the same switch used for the engine control computer???

I'm at a lost on this. since my car only has one clutch switch.

also i have been removing extra connectors from the engine harness that i will not use for the probe. what is the little square connector next to the air temp connector for? it is for anything engine related or can i delete that one too.

thanks for any input

When you turn the ignition switch to the "START" position, the ignition switch sends 12 volts to the clutch pedal switch. The clutch switch is open at all times except when you push in the clutch.

When you do that, the pedal switch closes and sends that 12 volts to two places. One place is to the starter solenoid, which is a switch itself. The other place is position 6 of the DIS. The one and only clutch pedal switch on the SHO only does those two things and nothing else. The wire from the ignition switch to the clutch switch is white w/ a pink stripe. The wire from the clutch switch to the two other locations (starter solenoid and DIS module) is red w/ light blue stripe.

Do not confuse this red w/ light blue wire that goes to pin 6 of the DIS and is ONLY hot while the Ignition key is in the START position, with the red w/ light green wire that attaches to pin 1 of the DIS. That red w/ light green wire is also fed by the Ignition Switch BUT, is hot in both the START AND RUN position.

That red w/ light green wire not only feeds switched, 12 volt power to the DIS, but also to the Crankshaft Position Sensor, the Camshaft Position Sensor, the Coil Pack and the Condenser on the side of the coil pack (the condenser keeps the ignition system from generating electrical noise that the radios pick up).

Hope that helps.

Tom
